A strange hybrid of zombie films, vampire stories, and shockingly relevant pandemic/vaccination fears. This early Cronenberg is VERY slow burn, even cutting to some people driving three separate times. As short as it is, i6 probably could’ve lost another 10 minutes. That said, the “protrusion” is sufficiently creepy while also being both phallic and vaginal at once. Marilyn Chambers is a good enough lead, even if she plays it a bit too breathy for the genre. Some great moments, worth the watch.
