If Saw lost the very little social commentary it had, added the most obvious commentary on our unhealthy obsessions with reality TV and violence, and gave us zero likable characters, and a whiny posturing big bad host whose speechifying is so unbelievably devoid of actual insight we can’t help but laugh, and whose “commentary” is steaming with the odor of impotent white male rage. His name is even fucking Nero. There is the potential for great film in the “violence is real” reality show movie. Series 7: The Contenders is a great one, in fact, and it’s from the very birth of the reality craze. Oh, and keep a special eye out for the “dark web expert” talking absolute nonsense.
