The unstoppable authority figure is a genre staple, but Jenn Wexler builds a unique film around the titular Ranger. Full of day-glo neon colors and punk styles, and set in a nebulous non-specific time, this is a cracking slasher that doesn’t waste its time dispatching some of the more…obnoxious characters. Chloe Levine is especially good in the film, and manages her transition into final girl quite well. I’ve never seen the instrument of death used on the big bad before. Really enjoyed.
