It’s exactly what it appears to be. Bunch of teens go into the woods/mountains and the locals (inbred mountain men) kill them. We’ve seen it so many times before and since that one could argue the genre itself is redundant at this point, especially considering there are somehow 7 of these movies. That said, Eliza Dushku, Desmond Harrington, and Jeremy Sisto helps give it a bit of personality beyond the expected. The mountain men’s preternatural abilities however, strain credibility further than anything else here. The screaming metal song over the closing credits does more to place Wrong Turn in 2003 than anything else. Not bad, just unnecessary. If 2 doesn’t offer me something more, I’ll likely give the rest a pass.
