I was pleasantly surprised, having gone in with very low expectations. The religious aspect was heavy handed, yes, but surprisingly true to characters. The titular film had everything from a year 1 8mm film class. The gore was intense, and at one point even rivaled the eyeball/scissors moment from Hostel. I don’t know if that’s a good thing. The climax (haha) seemed muddy, and confused itself, and the movie contains the single worst merkin I’ve ever seen. Is it a good movie? Not really. Is it enjoyable in that rented on VHS because of the box art alone way? I would have been pleased with this $1.99 5 day rental.
