Synchronic, 2019 – ★★★★ (contains spoilers)

This review may contain spoilers.

While some of the elements don't quite line up, I'm happy to report that Synchronic is another Moorehead & Benson success. The duo whose best work includes The Endless and Spring, two unusual takes on genre staples, take on time travel via pill here. The elements that are more misses (the mundanity of some of the travel, the decision regarding the dog Hawking – he doesn't die, but it's sad) are more than made up for with tremendous performances and mood. I feel like this idea is ultimately far bigger than the film, and there's a great season or two of television buried in her. Maybe we'll get that someday.
